The Sigur Nature Trust is located in the Sigur plateau (11°32’N 76°41’E) at the center of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. It is on the Ootacamund (Ooty) – Masinagudi – Mudumalai road, near the village of Vazhaithottam.

Towards the north, the thorny scrub forest is contiguous with three protected areas: Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, Bandipur Tiger Reserve and Nagarhole National Park. Towards the West the forests intergrades into the Wynaad Wildlife Sanctuary, which continues onto Silent Valley National Park. The forested slopes of the Nilgiri upper plateau lie south and west of Sigur.
