The Trust was registered in 2005 but we have been doing ecological research for the past 50 years, within and out of the Nilgiris, never too far either. The list of scientific communications can be found in “Publications” in the main menu.
Our research follows our hearts: we do what we think is a conservation priority, mostly. Scientific research undertaken by the Sigur Nature Trust aims at conserving wildlife, enhancing habitat quality and connectivity, and finding novel ways to coexist with large wildlife.
It is to be noted that a few papers by E.R.C. Davidar (who had no training in science) were foundation papers for the conservation of the Nilgiri tahr and on the elephant habitat connectivity in the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve.
